My soccer background

I have been playing soccer since I was 4 years old. I started at Jong Holland, but after one year I left to go to AFC ’34, a club that is playing at the highest level. I played on district level as a striker and defender. In the Under 13, after playing some matches as a goalkeeper, I decided to become the permanent goalkeeper as I enjoyed it a lot and I felt I was really good at it.

My performance as a goalkeeper was getting better and better and as a result I was selected as the goalkeeper of the first team of my age group (Under 16). In the Under 16, we played in the 4th division and became champions. One year later, in the Under 17, we became champions again in the 3rd division.I have participated in training sessions with the first senior team of AFC ‘34 for 2.5 years now and I have also regularly been part of the selection for matches. Currently I am playing as the first goalkeeper in the Under 19.

I would describe myself as an all-round goalkeeper. I am good on the line because of my reflexes and due to my length strong and solid with high balls. Due to my period as a field player I am very comfortable with playing the ball with my feet on short, mid and long distance. I keep the overview and make the right choice in passing the ball to my defenders, midfielders and strikers. Also, I often win 1-1 situations and coach my team mates to make the right choices.

Why I want to play college soccer

Playing college soccer in America is an amazing opportunity. The great sports mentality and the amazing facilities attract me a lot. The unique combination of following an academic program and playing soccer on a high level is something that fits great with my ambitions: learn new people, develop myself mentally and physically, and compete to become the best and win prizes.

The ideal school should combine a professional soccer approach and organization with a winning mentality. A social and open atmosphere where students get on well with each other and have fun is also important.
